If you want to rent a home from a private landlord, but cannot afford to pay a deposit, we may be able to help you. Our Deposit Guarantee Scheme can offer landlords non-cash deposits (usually in the form of a written / paper bond) on your behalf.
Your local council's Housing Options or Housing Needs team will be able to help you with other steps you’ll need to take to get your tenancy started, such as completing housing benefit forms. They will also make the decision on whether you will be entitled to help from the Deposit Guarantee Scheme.
“Will I qualify for the scheme?” To qualify, you need to be aged 18 or over and meet the following criteria:
- Be homeless or threatened with homelessness.
- Be on a low income or benefits and entitled to housing benefit.
- Be capable of independent living.
- Be unable to afford to rent privately without help.
- Have a local connection to either Broxtowe, Gedling or Rushcliffe areas of Nottingham and wish to live there.
Please contact us to discuss making an application.
